Dreyer’s Ice Cream Ad (Creative Writing Layout)

Opinion: In my opinion, I like this ad as it uses an alphabet-inspired type of layout. The simple colour palette and design are captivating, and it successfully made me crave for some ice cream! The ad is simple enough yet gets the message across to consumers even if they saw it from afar as it is big enough to see and it does not contain lengthy words.
Copy Strategy: The copy strategy used here is the Big Type layout where the headline dominates the whole ad. Its big and eye-catching text uses loud and bold fonts to mainly draw the public’s attention. Aside from that, it also uses the Type Specimen layout where it uses the type to manipulate and create both literal and visual meaning to the ad. As you can see here, the word “Ice Cream” here is put in a way to make it look like an actual visual of an ice cream. Again, the type dominates the whole ad in a special manner where its extracted for the purpose of the ad’s message.
